During the last 3 month www.TravelDiamonds.com asked its high net worth international travellers 3 new questions on the website about their travel behaviour. About 3.000 respondents came to the following answers: 

1. TIPPING IN RESTAURANTS

Asked about their tipping behaviour in restaurants 52% responded that they almost always tip, 18% responded that they only tip if a restaurant was not bad , 26% answered that they tip if the restaurant was not bad and 4% answered that they almost never tip. This means that the vast majority of the restaurant visitors tips. If the restaurant was good about 78% tips.

2. BOUTIQUE OR CHAIN HOTEL?

We asked hotel preference of our site visitors for holiday and business trips. 

35% chose boutique for business and boutique for holiday

12% chose boutique for business and chain for holidays

18% chose chain hotel for business and chain hotel for holiday

40% Chose Chain for business, Boutique hotel for holidays.

This clearly indicates that boutique hotels are the clear winners for holiday travel, but that there also are interesting opportunities for boutique hotels in the business segment.

3. FREE HOLIDAY

We also asked what holiday type the luxury traveller would choose if we would give them a 1 week luxury holiday for 2 for free. The responses were as follows:

30% would take a beach holiday

15% would go for a free skiing trip

50% would go for a trip with city and cultural aspects

5% responded they rather stayed at home
